moore’s law is the observation that whilst the number of transistors on a microchip doubles about every two years, the cost of machines is halved. in this work I used my first digital camera, which I bought in 2001 and allows only 15 seconds of continuous video, to film mundane scenes at the seafront and beach of lignano sabbiadoro, in the north-east italian adriatic, in the summer of 2021. the 15 sec clips were then filtered and re-exported through the Instagram stories platform, filling the 20 years gap between the two camera devices. the vacationers are trapped in a space-time suspension similar to that of portable devices, their number of pixels and performance capacity multiplying in time, yet the basic technology enabling them staying radically unchanged. field recordings of cicadas singing are manipulated and looped throughout.
